• Lesson 7 - Wedding Day Timeline

  • The number one key to a successful and smooth event is a well-planned Timeline. The behind-the-scenes execution of this is important too as you do not want your guests to ever know the events are planned at approximate times but they more feel like the day is organized and flows well. If something does not go as planned, an excellent wedding professional will know how to adapt on the spot.

A preliminary Wedding Day Timeline will be the best stress reliever you can do! I will show you how to create an excel Timeline that will simultaneously display multiple activities so you can see how they will affect each other.

This Timeline will also be a crucial overview of the flow of your whole day. It will ensure you have the right coverage for photography as well as continuous music coverage as your wedding progresses from ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner to dancing… for one example!

Lastly I find it very helpful to keep your Timeline to one page. When you have pages and pages, it makes it more difficult for anyone to follow along as well as for you to notice a potential gap in timing. One page also keeps your day viewable in one glance and makes you prioritize the most critical elements to put on there.

Your caterer, DJ/band and photographer will love this. Your caterer or in-house food service provider may have a much simpler Timeline version which is fine as long as they have the same important start times. (They won’t have when hair/make-up begins on their Timeline for example).
